Rice & Grains

Wilderness Family Naturals offers a variety of ancient, heirloom rice, ancient non-gluten grains and authentic wild rice from remote lakes in the Wilderness of Canada. Though none of these may be common at an American family's table, many people believe they should be. Add color and variety to your diet with these unique options!

Gluten Free Flour Blend

Wilderness Family Naturals has developed a gluten-free flour blend and a number of recipes for our customers who want to eat gluten-free. This flour blend is made of Organic Coconut Flour, Organic Sorghum Flour, Organic Almond Meal and Organic Tapioca Flour. Xanthan gum does not need to be added, but can be added to make your recipe a little lighter. This blend can be used for raised breads as well as quick breads, pie crusts, cookies and more. Every week we are adding new recipes. Check them out!

Ancient Grains Picture

Organic Ancient Grains

Centuries ago (and today in under-developed countries) you will find grains that have been used for generations. Unlike the western world, where many commercially raised wheat, soy and corn has been hybridized or become genetically modified, these grains remain untouched by modern society. Teff, Amaranth and Quinoa are examples of heirloom, non-gluten grain. They come from South America and Africa and have remained unchanged as heirloom seeds year after year.

Exotic Rice Picture

Exotic Rice

This category is made of exotic, heirloom rice that contains vibrant colors. It is planted and harvested by hand at small family farms located in the Philippines.

The vibrant purple of black "Emperor's" rice and rosy pink color of red rice are quite striking on a dinner plate and in dishes. Add more color and flavonoids to your diet!

Gluten Free Flours

Gluten Free Flours

Coconut flour is uniquely different from wheat alternatives. It is naturally low in digestible carbohydrates and contains no gluten. It has less carbohydrates than soy or nut flours, but is high in fiber and a good source of protein.

Try real Wild Rice (planted by Mother Nature and harvested in the remote lakes of the Canadian Wilderness). Wilderness Family Naturals' Canadian Jumbo and Hand Parched Wild Rice have a chewy, nutty flavor and are striking in casseroles, soups, and side dishes. Originally harvested and parched by the Indian tribes in this area, wild rice is as timeless as the secluded lakes where it grows.
