Deviled eggs grace many a potluck buffet table. They’re pretty much a staple at any family gathering in my area, too. However, they don’t have to be boring! These Curried Deviled Eggs bring flavor and health benefits to the table.

Curry is a vast world of flavors. Mixes vary by region – some mild, such as Korma, and others wickedly spicy, such as Vindaloo.

Curry is an age-old way to add flavor to foods, but recipes within the same region often vary by family. However, there is one common ingredient you’ll almost always find in curry that also packs a healthy punch. Turmeric!

Say Hello To Turmeric

Turmeric gives regular old mustard its bright yellow color. In fact, it’s often an ingredient in deviled egg and egg salad recipes. However, some people are allergic to mustard (or just don’t like it). This curried deviled egg recipe is the perfect solution!

Here are just 3 reasons why turmeric needs to be in your spice cabinet!

#1 – Turmeric Is Anti-Inflammatory

Turmeric has been as a culinary spice and medicinal herb for centuries. Inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, often benefit from the anti-inflammatory power of turmeric. Specifically, pain can be lessened and chronic inflammation reduced (source).

However, curcumin needs a little help getting into your body. This help is very simple – just be sure to include black pepper whenever you add turmeric to your recipes. As a result, the bioavailability of curcumin dramatically increases.

# 2 – Turmeric Supports Liver Health

Healthy liver function is important for our body’s natural detox system. Consequently, including healthy herbs such as turmeric is wise. This is because the beneficial compounds in turmeric support liver health (source).

It’s even been shown to reverse cirrhosis to some extent and has been used since 1900 BC (source)!

# 3 – Turmeric Can Improve Brain Health And Function

Studies show promising results in the area of brain health and function. For example, turmeric has been shown to have antidepressant effects (source).

It’s also been used traditionally to boost concentration, cognition, and memory, which research has proven (source).

How To Make Your Own Curry Powder (And Curried Deviled Eggs)

Making your own curry powder is as simple as mixing together ground spices. Start with turmeric as your base and add flavorful spices. Make it hot or make it mild, it’s up to you!

You’ll find my personal curry blend in the recipe below. It’s a mild curry, similar to Korma (my favorite). However, feel free to add or remove spices according to your own tastes.

Making curried deviled eggs is so easy! Mash hard-cooked egg yolks with mayo, a splash of apple cider vinegar, salt, and curry powder to your liking. Just an FYI – if you add a lot of curry powder, you may need to add a bit more mayo.

Next, stuff egg white halves with this curried egg yolk mixture. Garnish with a sprinkle of curry powder, paprika, or chopped green onions. Arrange on a platter and serve. Easy peasy!

Traveling with deviled eggs is tricky so try this simple hack. Pack the egg white halves and filling separately, then assemble when you arrive. No more mishaps with deviled eggs sliding around on the way!
