What is Coconut Water?

Coconut water is the clear to slight yellowish colored water found in the center of the coconut. This slightly sweet liquid flows from the roots, up the trunk of the tree to the leaves and eventually through the shoot (called a florescence) into the coconut. It is this sap that is used to form the mature coconut.

Coconut water is considered a delicious beverage that contains naturally occurring electrolytes, sugars, and flavors.

Does this coconut water contain any additives?

This water is tested for sweetness because of significant variation from one season to the next and from one tree to another. So each batch is assessed for a brix reading (a valuation of sweetness). Any batch that is below 5 brix will have a very small amount of evaporated cane juice added, so that every batch has the exact same sweetness. These crystals are only added when necessary but because of the standardization in sweetness their addition makes it easy for customers who make smoothies or other drinks.
