Coconut Knife

Finally, an easy way to open up a coconut!

Step One:

Hit the coconut with the blunt side of the coconut knife several times.  The coconut will develop a crack and the knife will sink in a bit.

Step Two:

Stick the hook end of the knife in the crack and twist.

Step Three:

Continue to twist until the entire coconut breaks apart

Step Four:

Pull the two halves apart and gaze on your masterpiece.   Your handwork will likely resemble that of a  native from Sri Lanka, the Philippines or the South Pacific.

It wasn't because of your wonderful strength, nor your talents.  It is because finally you have the right tool.  If I can do it, anyone can do it. (And I did this one!  It was my first attempt, and it was surprisingly easy.) Once you have the coconut knife and can easily open up the coconut you need to decide what you are going to do with it.  I would like to suggest you check out our graters from Sri Lanka as well.
