Natural Coconut Milk in Glass Bottles

This milk is made especially for Wilderness Family Naturals and our customers who absolutely cannot have any gums, emulsifiers or additives in the food they eat. All other coconut milks do have small amounts of additives in them. The amounts used by the manufacturers are small enough that they are not required to list the additives on the label.

This coconut milk does not contain anything but pure coconut flesh and water. It does not undergo any extensive processing and is very similar to coconut milk that you would make in your own kitchen if you lived in Latin America, Asia, or the South Pacific. This coconut milk naturally contains about 15% coconut oil, which means that each 550 ml. bottle of coconut milk contains about 5 ½ tablespoons of coconut oil.

More About Coconut Milk in Glass Bottles

After this bottle of coconut milk sits for a while, it naturally separates into 4 different layers. The top layer is made of the oil from the coconut. Any slight discoloration you may find on the very top layer is due to interaction with the natural cork found under the bottle cap, and is completely normal. The next layer under the oil is the pulp. This layer is quite large. Towards the bottom you will see water and at the very bottom you will probably find small pieces of coconut flesh.

If this milk is above 76° F, these individual layers will all be easily shaken together into a smooth, creamy milk. If you want the coconut milk to be smoother than you have from just shaking it, mix the coconut milk in a blender. If it is cold when you receive your product, you will need to warm the bottle so the top layers are not so solid. During the summer months, only those who live in the coldest areas of the United States will need to warm the bottle of coconut milk.

This coconut milk works great in smoothies, in curries, or in any recipe where you might want to use coconut milk. I use coconut milk as a milk replacement much of the year, since we do not always have raw dairy available, and I love the flavor coconut milk gives our food.

Each glass bottle is 550ml (over 17 oz.), and has a one year shelf life.

Coconut Milk Ice Cream

Coconut milk can be churned in an ice cream maker to make ice cream.  As a matter of fact, Bruce Fife is working on a new cookbook with loads of recipes in it using all types of coconut products.  Coconut milk makes wonderful ice cream.

Hot Chocolate

Use either coconut milk or coconut cream and add a teaspoon of cocoa powder or carob powder and the sweetening of your choice.  It is better than any hot chocolate you have every had and since there are very few hot chocolates that do not contain partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. If you want to be healthy, this is a much better choice.

Egg Nog

Use either coconut milk or coconut cream and add one egg, a pinch of nutmeg and a pinch of cinnamon along with your sweetener of choice.  This makes a wonderful holiday drink that you can have all year long.

There are absolutely hundreds of recipes that use coconut milk.  We recommend two very wonderful coconut cookbooks if you need ideas and have no idea where to start.  They are:
