Wilderness Family Naturals' Coconut Spreads are special:
These delicious coconut spreads are made from fresh coconut meat that is
dried at low temperatures. It is then pulverized into a paste in a series
of two machines that quickly liquefy the coconut so that little or no heat
is generated. The transformation of dried coconut into paste occurs in the
US in Wilderness Family Naturals' commercial kitchen.
By comparison, most shredded coconut sold in the US (and throughout the
world) is blanched at 170-180° F and dried at temperatures between
160-170° F. Our manufacturers keep the air temperatures low so the
coconut does not heat to more than 103 degrees F. Temperatures of the
pulverized coconut are also kept low with a special chilling process prior
to grinding.
No Preservatives or Additives:
There are absolutely no artificial additives or preservatives in any of
these coconut spreads. Wilderness Family Naturals now offers not only 16 oz
jars of this wonderful, simple ground coconut, but also three new flavors
of this spread.
Warm and Stir:
Like natural peanut butter or almond butter, the oils in the coconut spread
will naturally rise to the top of the jar as it sets. It is also important
to understand that this oil will turn to a solid at temperatures cooler
than 76 degrees F. Therefore, to use this spread you will want to lightly
warm the jar (if it is cool in your home, below 76 degrees) and you will
need to stir it with a knife to remix the oils into the paste.
How to Use Plain Coconut Spread:
It looks like white icing and has a light sweet coconut taste. In fact, you
can add a bit of stevia or
natural sweetening and make your own natural, low carbohydrate
frosting. It mixes well with almond or other nut butters and tastes great
on apples or celery. It is shelf-stable without needing preservatives.
Other ideas:
- By adding a natural raw sugar and natural chocolate you can make a
chocolate frosting.
- By adding
dried
fruit and "whizzing" it in the blender with a little coconut milk,
you can make a delicious fruit spread.
Some people like to use it in their sauces and spreads for fruit or
vegetable salads as it adds the flavor of coconut and will greatly thicken
purees.
Recipes Below!
How to use Flavored Spreads:
Wilderness Family Naturals offers coconut spreads such as Coco Loco, Verry
Berry and Mango Tango. Each of these spreads contain organic ground
coconuts with organic raw agave and ingredients such as raw cacao,
raspberries, strawberries and blueberries or dried mango, lemon and orange
essential oils. These spreads can be used on crackers, as frostings (when
warmed) or as dips. They are an excellent replacement for jelly or other
sweetened spreads. These spreads each contain 2 grams of fiber in every
tablespoon and all the natural components of coconut including medium chain
fatty acids.
